What the policy did

Decree 560 of 6 Aug 2014 banning agricultural and food imports from US, EU, Canada, Australia, Norway (later Ukraine, Turkey, etc.) for one year; extended repeatedly. Delivered protection to Russian agricultural producers, accelerated domestic output growth, but caused substantial food-price inflation 2014-2015 and reduced consumer welfare.
