What the policy did

Saudi-led severance of diplomatic, trade and transport links with Qatar in June 2017, joined by UAE, Bahrain and Egypt, over allegations of Muslim Brotherhood support and Iran ties. Thirteen-demand ultimatum rejected. Blockade formally ended with the Al-Ula Declaration January 2021. Disrupted intra-GCC supply chains, pushed Qatar toward self-sufficiency and closer Turkey/Iran ties, and tested the regional trade framework.
