What the policy did

INF Treaty signed 8 December 1987 between Reagan and Gorbachev in Washington; ratified by Senate 27 May 1988. Eliminated all US-Soviet ground-launched ballistic and cruise missiles with ranges 500-5,500 km. First nuclear-arms-reduction treaty (not limitation). 2,692 missiles destroyed. US withdrawal effective August 2019.
